In Memory of Dallas

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Dallas Koch looked to nature to revive his soul. When the pressures of everyday living weighed on his mind, he grabbed his fishing pole, hooked up the boat, and headed out to the nearest fishing spot to cast a line, clear his mind, and become part of nature.

In a strange twist of fate, the same great outdoors which gave Dallas such a love for his life, in turn, took his life. While ice fishing alone on the Missouri River with his dog Hutch, he and his canine friend became part of history and in a sense, part of the nature he loved so dearly.

As I look back on Dallas’s life, I am always reminded of his respect for the outdoors, for wildlife, and for the protection of nature for those who seek to admire it now and into the future. He appreciated nature for its tangible offerings to us and for the wisdom it taught him ~ in serenity there is clarity.

In memory of Dallas and his life, I share some of his most precious moments in pictures.

Dallas 057

I pray that I may live to fish…
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast.
I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord’s great landing net
And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.
