The Story

A love for the outdoors is what called Dallas Koch to ice fish on the Missouri River one beautiful March 1st day. Little did he know, it would be his last day on earth. As the hours, days, and months passed while he remained missing, his wife Corinne was left devastated by the tragic loss of her husband and their black Labrador Retriever Hutch. In these pain-stricken moments, her soul plunged to depths she had never before experienced. And, being a young widow, she found it even more difficult to find others who understood her grief. In her effort to regain her soul, she felt compelled to write and let emotions flow from the pen.

Through the Ice is a journal of poetic experience through grief. In this book, Corinne offers her own widow’s insight to those dealing with grief and invites them to write about their emotions, frustrations, thoughts, and tears alongside hers in this book.

Corinne writes:

“This book is a product of my pain. It is my journey through the darkest, coldest, and loneliest time in my life. As Dallas slipped through the ice into Heaven, I had to chip away slowly through the ice that surrounded my soul to find any sense of warmth left in my world.

There are countless tears within each page and a flood of images from times spent with my late husband. My hope is that you will find this book to be an acknowledgement of your suffering and an aide in your grief.”
